The Multimedia and Visual Arts School is a diverse community of students, teachers and parents dedicated to creating a climate of empowerment, collaboration and mutual respect.with a technical twist. Through multimedia and cross-curricular projects students will develop:
- Heightened self confidence and the desire to be life-long learner
- Cutting edge skills in computer-based technology
- The skills necessary for post-secondary educational opportunities and the modern workforce
- Skills for life long learning
- An understanding of their responsibility and contribution to the local and global community
MVAS includes several unique features:
- In addition to small class sizes, students will work with teachers who know them personally and help them to reach their goals beyond high school.
- Students will develop professional art and design skills to be used for multimedia productions in all of their classes.
- While learning the latest media programs and skills in video, web design, and graphic arts, students will meet with professionals in the field.
- The program will allow students to explore opportunities after high school through guest speakers, job shadowing, and internships.
- Many classes offered in the program allow students to gain college credit while still in high school.
- The advisory program supports the students and the classroom curriculum.
- Team teaching and looping in all core subject areas will ensure smooth transitions from one grade level to the next.
The school has four strategic goals:
- All students will graduate with the a-g requirements prepared to enter a post secondary education.
- All students will develop inquiry skills and real word experiences to prepare them for college or the workplace.
- All students will receive personalized attention from a caring staff.
- All students will develop a sense of school and community pride that will empower them to become contributing citizens after high school.
