Green PTA would like to thank Rick Edwards, Joe Frescatore, and Chip Dale for their very informative presentations on future possibilities for our school!
Green Elementary is in the process of creating a vision for our school as we move forward into the 21st century. Mr. Dale presented 2 video segments at the last PTA meeting aimed at getting all of us thinking about how the world has changed and the implications for how we must also change.
Shift Happens
The World is Flat
Rick Edwards, Physical Education Teacher, presented the PTA with information about the setup and use of a Fitness Lab at Green. Rick discussed what additional P.E. curriculum could be added to benefit all of the students. This equipment would not otherwise be possible without a permanent space to house the equipment and keep it set up. Additionally, Rick demonstrated how Fitness and Technology can merge into a fun physical education program.
Joe Frescatore, Math/Science Resource Teacher, presented the PTA with information about the development of a Science Lab at Green as a teaching and learning resource for our school community. Joe discussed the new Science adoption for the upcoming school year and provided insight into the possible resources that could be housed in a Science lab that could not necessarily be available in every classroom. He made connections to grade level standards and emphasized the positive impact a Science lab could have on teachers and students.
