Our general PTA meetings are held in September, December, February and April at 6:00 pm in the multipurpose room. See a list of exact PTA meeting times and dates. The Master Green Calendar is online and also includes the PTA meeting dates.
The PTA is a fun way to get involved in school events and to meet many parents, students, and staff. We have lots of volunteer opportunities and encourage everyone to get involved!
Our PTA is committed to sponsoring and providing educationally enriching programs for the students here at Green Elementary. In addition to the money used to enrich classroom curricula, we are currently sponsoring an art teacher in the classroom each month, the La Jolla Playhouse (a touring production to bring live theater to grades 3 to 5), San Diego Zoo (who brings interesting animals to grades K to 2), Recognition assemblies 3 times per year, an annual yearbook, and a garden project both in the kindergarten playground and between the 2nd and 3rd grade classrooms. We are dedicated to the athletic component of our school as well, sponsoring a morning Running Club, and our swim program, wherein every child receives 3 weeks of swim and water safety lessons each year. Last year we provided new computers for the 2nd and 3rd grades, as well as new sand for the kindergarten sandbox and playground equipment for the PE Department.
To support these and future programs, our fundraising efforts include Genevieve?s gift wrap, Gecko Gala, Jog-A-Thon, Box Tops collections, eScrip, and restaurant nights. As a school, we dedicate a weekend in the spring to ?Keep Green Green?, when we include all families and staff for a day to spiff up our campus. We also commit to being TV free during No TV Week, and show our gratitude to the tremendous staff here at Green with Staff Appreciation Week. |
