Mission Statement: Freese Arts and Culture Magnet School endeavors to provide every child with the educational skills needed for future academic and career success. At Freese, Arts and Culture is integrated with academic work to enrich learning and teach students a broader perspective of the world. Multiple measures are used to continually account for student achievement and make adjustments to deliver ever stronger educational programs that lead to greater student achievement. Some Quotes about Freese’s Magnet Program:"Freese Elementary School understands the power of the arts to inspire children to reach success in academics and in life. La Jolla Music Society is proud to continue its long-standing partnership with Freese by providing musical programs, both in the classroom and in concert halls, to encourage students to reach their full potential."
“We are honored to be Partners-in-Education with Freese! We would wish that every school in San Diego had the kind of arts programming that this school offers. What a giant step forward that would be in the education of all our children!” “Our emphasis in geography has allowed Freese students to see outside of themselves and to better understand the importance of world cultures. Students' involvement in The National Geographic Society's yearly competition is an enjoyable way for them to learn more about the world and something that is eagerly anticipated each December-January. Our children have attained skills in geography that allow them to better understand the entire State of California History/Social Science Framework!” "When our students move on, they will remember the art projects they did in each grade. After all, when you think back to your fond memories of elementary school, most of what you remember was related to friendships and art. These are memories to cherish for a lifetime." “Children learn by making connections. In our magnet program, the students not only learn the specific content knowledge of dance, art, theater, and music, but make connections to other subject areas. They also learn key life skills such as responsibility, patience, perseverance, compassion, and respect.” “I like the magnet program because it is fun. I mean, dance, art, drama, music…I never want to leave this school!” “The magnet program is very important to Freese because it gives us ways to express ourselves by acting, singing, dancing, and more. It’s not just about having fun. It may seem like it, but you are really learning something.” “I love the magnet program because it brings out the creativity inside of me with all the music, dance and art…Magnet is what makes me happy here! |
