Here is this week's Sunday Update:

Here is this week's Sunday Update! We have a busy week ahead, but I would first like parents to know that the superintendent of SDUSD, Cindy Marten, visited classrooms on Friday and was very impressed with our staff and students.  She was amazed with the instruction the teachers were providing our students and she was blown away by our students and the level of their conversations were with one another.  Way to go to both teachers and students for a great job!  I would like to thank PTSA for providing special treats for our staff during staff appreciation week, and a special thank you to the families that donated sweats for the staff. This week we will be celebrating our military as we get ready for Memorial Day next Monday.  Donna Rankin, our AVID Coord., MIchael Falcone our Military Counselor and ASB have put together a fun week to honor our military and their families.  Each day at lunch and in advisory there will special opportunities for students to show their appreciation.  We will be collecting items for care packages to be sent to troops around the world all week and students will be writing thank you cards.  The packages will be mailed at the end of the week.  Tuesday, is Dad's Luncheon and we are encouraging students to wear their military spirit gear!  Also on Tuesday the Jr SD lifeguard group will be at school to give a presentation to our 6th grade students.  On Wednesday some of our 7th graders will be going to the Qualcomm Think-A-Bit Lab.  Thank you to Qualcomm for providing this special opportunity to our students.  Thursday is wear jeans for troops day and red, white and blue.  We will also be collecting $1 from any student who would like to donate to our troops. This is a special campaign being put on through the military and all precedes will be spent on troops serving around the world.  Also on Thursday, the Wild Wonders group will be at school putting on an assembly for 6th grade.  Friday is ASB recycling day. ASB is collecting your recyclable cans and bottles to raise money for the 8th grade bowling trip.  Please drop off your items between 8:15-8:45 am in the parking lot. PTSA is also still collecting items for the rummage sale on June 6th.  Finally, next week is a three day weekend as we take time to celebrate on Monday those who have put their life on the line to protect our freedom in America.  I thank all of our military families for their dedication and bravery to ensure we are all safe here at home.

     Thank you!
