San Diego Early/Middle College has been nationally recognized by both Newsweek and U.S. News and World Report.

SDEMC ranked in the top 20 percent of high schools listed in Newsweek's "Beating the Odds: America’s Top High Schools for Low-Income Students". More than 14,000 schools were considered for the rankings. Newsweek explains that this list "identifies public high schools in the U.S. that do the best job of preparing students for college and overcome the obstacles posed by socioeconomic inequality." The publication ranked schools on how well they prepare students for college, ranking the schools in categories such as college enrollment rate, graduation rate, weighted AP/IB composite, weighted ACT/SAT scores, holding power and counselor-to-student ratio. SDEMC was the only school south of Los Angeles to earn this distinction. We are proud of our college readiness score of 93.89!

U.S. News and World Report also named SDEMC as one of the top high schools in the United States in its 2014 list of the best public high schools. SDEMC ranked 338th among California high schools and 1,511th nationally.  Over 30,000 high schools across the United States were evaluated by U.S. News and World Report in determining the rankings. SDEMC achieved a Silver Medal Award based on its academic achievement.
