10th! PAR processors: The live database for PAR processing will be
available for online PARS effective November 10th. For any emergency assignment
processing (new hires), please complete the paper Assignment Authorization
form and process through your Human Resource Representative. PAR REMINDER:
Remember to reference the old budget charge # on the PAR form for payroll
parallel purposes. Thank you.
- 10/29/03: Training Changes! Due to the San
Diego wildfires, we have cancelled ePro, Time and Labor, and PAR classes
for the entire week of 10/27 to 10/31. Please see the PeopleSoft
Training Page for information on rescheduling if you were scheduled
for a class that was cancelled.
- 10/23/03: Make-Up Classes for PeopleSoft Administrator
Training Administrators who were unable to attend previous sessions
can reserve a seat at one of two make-up classes offered on November 5 and

Remember, these classes are for site administrators only (not vice principals
or proxies).
- 10/21/03: 4GL ENCORE! Coming Soon! The seven
pilot schools will go live with the ENCORE! system for Special Education
information on November 17. Training will begin Friday, November
7 with an all-day session for Site Based Diagnostic Resource Teachers.
All remaining special education staff from the pilot schools will be trained
at one of several sessions scheduled for November 12, 13 and 14. Details

Payroll parallel starts October 15! See the packet of information sent to

- 10/6/03: User IDs and passwords for PeopleSoft Sandbox:
To log into the sandbox portal (a practice area for PeopleSoft), use the
same user ID and password you used in training. If you forgot the user ID
or password, consult this signon
list (PDF, requires Adobe Acrobat Reader).
- 10/2/03: "Sandbox" now available to practice
PeopleSoft from your desk: Many of you have asked if you can practice
your PeopleSoft skills online, without leaving your site. Now you can! Go
to: http://pocecapp10.poc.sandi.net/prt88san/signon.html
to enter the "sandbox", which is a database where you can safely
"play" and not worry about making mistakes.

web browser! To support the many web-based DWA applications, the
district is adopting a standard of the Internet Explorer web browser.
If you do not have the latest version of Internet Explorer (version 6.0

- 7/2/03: Welcome to new 4gl team members: The
4GL team, working with SDCS special ed staff, are pleased to welcome two
new trainers to the DWA project. The first phase of 4GL special ed applications
"go live" in October 2003 at the pilot schools.
- 6/27/03: DWA Status Meeting: A DWA status
meeting was held in the Ed Center auditorium on Thursday June 26,
2003, from 3:00 - 4:30 p.m. See
the presentation, which covered the status of the DWA project to date
and what to expect for the next several months.

- 6/12/03: Peoplesoft training announced: Training
schedules for PeopleSoft financial and human resources applications
are now available. These courses are intended for school site administrators,
timekeepers and the site financial clerk/secretary and/or site requisitioner.

of the DWA Newsletter is now
available! Learn what's new with the PeopleSoft project, the Timekeeper's
Simulation, and the new Master Schedule Builder in Zangle.
- 6/9/03: pilot schools go live with Zangle!
The seven pilot schools (University City High, Standley Middle, Garfield
High, Twain, Curie, Doyle, and Spreckels) begin using the Zangle student
information system to enroll and schedule students for next fall. These
schools will "pilot" the system through December, after which
the roll-out will begin to remaining schools in the district. See deployment
schedule for more information.
- 6/9/03: Human Resource Department's employee training
starts! The Human Resource department's employees will be attending
Introduction to PeopleSoft's HCM course introducing HR employees
to PeopleSoft navigation, the portal, and the HCM modules being implemented.
The course will be offered in three separate sessions on June 17th,
18th and 19th.
- 6/9/03: HR Review Sessions: The DWA-HR Project
Team is holding review sessions on June 9th, 10th and 11th to define new
business processes.
- 6/9/03: Time and Labor Simulation: On May
15, 2003 a PeopleSoft time and labor simulation was conducted with timekeepers
from across the district. Timekeepers learned about SAM's Web Center and
PeopleSoft navigation. Many commented on how “user friendly”
the software is. They felt that after the initial learning curve, timekeeping
in PeopleSoft will improve efficiency and reduce the amount of time it takes
to perform the timekeeping function. PeopleSoft goes live on November 3,
2003.
- 6/5/03: PEOPLESOFT FINANCIAL TRAINING HELD:
The Introduction to PeopleSoft Financials training for finance
division employees was held Thursday, June 5 at the Eugene Brucker Education
Center. The course introduced employees to PeopleSoft navigation, the portal,
the modules being implemented, the Chart of Accounts, and much more. See
the presentation.
- 5/21/03: DWA Portal goes live! DWA Project
Team members will begin using the portal for access to PeopleSoft HR and
Financials, Zangle web applications, Outlook email and calendar, and district
news. (See portal training
schedule for 5/21 & 5/22.) The portal will be available to all district
employees this fall.
- 5/9/03: 4GL & SDCS design online forms:
During the week of 5/5, 4GL assisted SDCS special ed staff in the design
of the second set of online forms for special ed. Forms designed for SDCS
so far are: Referral, Meeting Notice, IEP, Assessment Plan, and Assessment
Report. The team is progressing nicely!
- 5/1/03: Pilot School training: Pilot schools
begin Zangle training on May 5, continuing through early June. For a detailed
schedule and directions to the training location, see Zangle
Training.
- 5/1/03: Team news: Each month, the DWA project
managers write a friendly status

- 4/30/03: Financial Division met to introduce
key members of the Empower Solutions team assisting SDCS with the PeopleSoft
financial implementation. The new Chart of Accounts was also explained.

The Human Resources and Financial teams are now developing solutions to
meet the needs ("gaps") that were identified in the Fit/Gap meetings.
- 3/14/03: New DWA web site launched! We've
redesigned and expanded this site to bring you more news and information
about the DWA. Please let
us know what you think of the new site and how we can better communicate
with you.
- 3/06/03: Student SME Kick-Off Subject matter
experts (SMEs) for the student system were given an introduction to Zangle,
and its features and language that will be new to the district, by Denis
Dolbey, DWA-Student Project Manager. For a list of the student SMEs, see

- 2/18/03 - 4/1/03: Fit/Gap analysis The HR
and Financial teams are meeting
daily to review PeopleSoft processes in light of SDCS processes to discover
any district processes that will need to change and any gaps that must be
bridged.
- 2/10/03: 4GL analysis for SETS begins. 4GL
business analysts and SDCS special ed subject matter experts met for several
days to define the district's time lines, events and outcomes for the new
special Ed system.
- 2/05/03: 4GL Special Ed Kickoff Special Ed
subject matter experts (SMEs) were invited to a kick-off meeting led by
4GL Project Manager Wayne Clary to launch the 4GL implementation. For a
list of the special Ed SMEs, see DWA-Student
Team.
- 1/27/03-1/31/03: Zangle Configuration Training The
Student team and subject matter experts attended training and started setting
up and configuring Zangle.
