The hands-on, one-hour science programs are thematically basedupon a particular area of science and include such topics as rocketry, magnets,polymers and even the science of toys. Children engage in exciting hands-onactivities, watch spectacular demonstrations and participate in inquiry-baseddiscussions. Children take home exciting projects that they make themselveslike model rockets, periscopes, Mad Science putty and more.

Club
Tuesdays& Thursdays 8:40-8:55 a.m., FREE(Funded by Holmes PTA), Grades 1-6
(Kindergarteners can participate if they have aparent or guardian to walk them to their Kindergarten class after Mileage Club). Students, parents and teachers are welcome to join theMileage Club twice a week at the backstops behind the school. This club startsin October and runs through May. It’s a fun way to exercise, meet with yourfriends, and wake up your brain for the school day. Permission slips will bedistributed on September 15^th and can be picked up from the officethroughout the year.

Theatre

The same instructors that run the Junior Theatre at Balboa Parkcome to Holmes Elementary for half the price! These classes are divided up bygrade level and all classes teach theatre skills (voice, movement,communication, imagination, improvisation) with the experience of rehearsingand performing on stage. Family and friends will be able to attend a shortperformance on the final day of instruction.
