Attending a Magnet school is a choice students have in San Diego Unified School District. Magnet Programs attract students by offering unique opportunities for in-depth studies in specific areas of study while meeting rigorous California state curriculum standards. Each Magnet School has a theme that is imbedded in the schools curriculum. Some examples of SDUSD Magnet School themes are STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics), Music Conservatories, Communications and Multimedia Publishing, International Baccalaureate, Language Immersion, Visual and Performing Arts, Athletics and MicroSociety.
