The benchmark assessments are district-developed, standards-based assessments that are aligned with the District's curriculum. Benchmark assessments provide information about studentts' understanding in relation to standards and this information will be used to target individual students who are in need of additional math and/or literacy support. At Longfellow, only students in grades 1 and 2 are administered a Spanish literacy benchmark. Parents of all students in grades 1-8 are strongly encouraged to ask their child's teacher for a parent report (parent letter) after each administration of the math and literacy benchmark assessment. This letter will explain in detail how your child performed on the benchmark and it will also indicate your child's proficiency level (advanced, proficient, basic, below basic, or far below basic). For students who are not performing at a proficient or advanced level, parents are strongly encouraged to contact the teacher to determine what supports and interventions will be implemented to support improved student achievement. Please visit our site calendar for benchmark assessment dates. |
