School Committees Overview

We have a variety of organizations that involve parents and school staff in our school.

ssc The School Site Council is a shared decision making body composed of parents, staff, and students.

School Site Councils are required by the State of California to oversee our school’s Site Plan and compensatory education program budgets. Our Council identifies needs for academic programs and sets budgets to support these programs. Its main responsibility is to prepare and monitor the School Site Plan.

This plan reflects our school's educational goals and its main strategies for achieving those goals for all of its students. The Site Council is also responsible for approving our school's budget for the compensatory education funds we receive each year. These funds are allocated by the state and federal governments to serve the educational needs of low-income children and English learners.

Members of the School Site Council are elected to two-year terms with parents, staff and students electing their own representatives.  At Mt. Everest Academy, three high school students are members of the SSC.

Site Governance Team (SGT)

The Governance Team is a shared decision making body required at each school by the San Diego Unified School District Board of Education.

The teams meets regularly to discuss issues, gather input and make recommendations about topics affecting our school and our children.

The team includes parents, teachers, classified staff, and the principal. The agendas are available for public review and the meetings are open to the public.

Parents are welcome to call parent members with questions and concerns to be brought to the team.

Parent Advisory Group (PAG)

PAG The Parent Advisory Group was created to partner with students, parents, teachers and the district to improve our students' educational experience at Mt. Everest Academy.

The purpose of the PAG is to provide lines of communication which enable students and parents to share their experiences with regard to independent study through MEA.

The main objective for the PAG is to continually focus on what is in the best interest of our students individually and for the MEA community as a whole.  For this to work best, parent participation is essential.  Mt. Everest Academy's PAG is a forum to voice concerns on specific issues, exchange information and discuss resources, and come together as a community to enhance our students' overall educational environment.
