Madison High School Registration (Fall 2012)
Enrolling Students for 2012-2013
Families living outside of Madison's attendance area - For enrollment of a new student, families living outside the Madison attendance area must apply through the Enrollment Options Office to attend under the School Choice Program on a space-available basis, or under the Voluntary Enrollment Exchange Program (VEEP) open to students residing within a specific boundary of a school that has an approved VEEP pattern. To find out if you reside in a VEEP pattern, or wish to apply for the School Choice Program, visit the Enrollment Options website or call the Enrollment Options Office at (619) 725-5672.
The deadline for submitting an application for School Choice or VEEP is February 15 of the year preceding fall enrollment. Any application submitted prior to February 15 is included in a random sort process, under which a priority number is assigned. Families applying after February 15 are on another priority list. VEEP offers transportation, whereas Choice does not. Historically, Madison has accepted both VEEP and Choice students.
Each spring we begin a pre-enrollment process whereby neighborhood feeder school 8thgraders are articulated to Madison for fall enrollment. This includes 8th graders at Innovation Middle and also Creative and Performing Media Arts Magnet students who reside in our area. Students (and parents) attend a “Picture Yourself at Madison” assembly and tour, and then participate in counselor presentations regarding the "a-g" pattern and course selection. The counselors then meet one-on-one with the students to select appropriate courses for the coming year. Parents are involved in the process, as well. We also pre-enroll students from parochial schools who reside in our area and students accepted from the VEEP/Choice lists provided by Enrollment Options in the months of April or May. Please call the Madison High School Registrar, Ms. April Avery, for information or to make an appointment to pre-enroll for fall at (858) 496-8410 ext. 2245.
