Location: Coronado Island Marriott Resort and Spa 2000 Second Street, Coronado, CA 92118
Time: Saturday, May 21, 8:00 p.m.- until Midnight.
Attire: Men: Tuxedo or suit and tie. Ladies: Formal dress or other formal attire.
Refreshments: Hors D'oeuvres and beverages included in price of your ticket, sold May 11-18, 2011.
Photography: Early bird pictures will be taken from 6:30 p.m. until 7:45 p.m. Formal photos will also be taken during the Prom from 8 p.m. until 11 p.m. There will also be a photo booth where students can take candid photos.
PROM RULES
1. Dance hours will be from 8:00 p.m. - Midnight. All those in attendance must be in the dance by 9:00. 2. A UCHS student may bring a non-UCHS student under the age of 21 as a guest, however, the UCHS student is responsible for the conduct of the guest and, if the guest is a student at another secondary school, they must get a clearance from that school. Dance contracts can be picked up in the attendance or financial office. 3. All Prom attendees MUST have ID with them to be admitted. UCHS students MUST bring their current, valid school ID. Non-UCHS students MUST have valid photo ID of some kind. NO EXCEPTIONS!! 3. Inappropriate dress may result in non-admittance. 4. Neither students nor their guests may return to the dance once they have left!! No one may leave until 11:00 PM! 5. Parents will be contacted and asked to pick up any student suspended for possession of, under the influence of, or using controlled substances including alcohol and tobacco. Any discipline issues that arise during Prom will jeopardize a student’s ability to walk at Commencement.
Driving Directions to Prom 2011 - The Coronado Island Marriott I – 5 South Take 5 South to the Coronado exit. Go over the bridge, and stay in the right lane. Take your very first right turn onto Glorietta Blvd. Follow Glorietta past Tidelands Park. The Marriott will be on your right hand side where 2nd Street intersects with Glorietta. The Marriott will be on your right hand side where 2nd Street intersects with Glorietta. DISNEYLAND ADVENTURE TRIP
WEDNESDAY, June 8, 2011 8:45 PM - 7:30 AM Thursday, June 9, 2011
1. Tickets for this event are on sale May 11, 12 and 17th. Ticket price is $115. 2. Meet in the UCHS front parking lot at 8:45 PM. Depart at 9:30 PM on a supervised charter bus. Because of security issues, parking overnight in the school lot is discouraged. If you choose to risk leaving your car overnight at school, you should use the front parking lot; do not park in spaces marked “Staff.” 3. No drinks or food allowed on bus 4. All carry-ons are subject to search. 5. Check the Disneyland website (www.disneyland.com) for appropriate dress regulations. 6. We will arrive at Disneyland at approximately 11:30 PM. 7. Admission includes: unlimited use of selected rides and themed entertainment venues with music and dancing and charter bus transportation both ways. 8. Leave Disneyland on Thursday, June 9, 2011 at 5:30 AM and arrive back to school at approximately 7:30 AM. GRADUATION REHEARSAL, CAP & GOWN PICK UP, TICKET DISTRIBUTION
University City High School Auditorium & Stadium THURSDAY, June 9, 2011, 12:45 PM
1. Dress is casual. 2. All seniors will assemble in the auditorium and be seated as per seating charts at 12:45 PM. 3. Seating is by alphabetical assignment which will be posted outside of the auditorium. 4. We will line up in the auditorium and go through a short version of the processional. (The same lineup will occur in the auditorium at 12:45 PM on Friday, June 10th). 5. CAUTION: If this first rehearsal is unsatisfactory or if there is too much confusion because of horseplay or inattention, the rehearsal WILL BE REPEATED! With your attention and cooperation, we will not have to repeat the rehearsal. 6. Caps, Gowns and Graduation Tickets will be distributed immediately following the rehearsal in the Activity Room. You must turn in your Senior Clearance form in order to receive your cap, gown and graduation tickets.
ACADEMIC DISTINCTION CORDS:
White braided cords will be provided to each student who qualifies for graduation with academic distinction. They may be obtained from the Registrar, beginning in June. Specific dates will be announced as soon as possible. CSF CORDS:
Questions regarding California Scholarship Federation (CSF) cords should be directed to Ms. Stanley, CSF Advisor, Room B-6. TRANSCRIPTS:
Most colleges and universities require a final transcript with second semester grades. Please complete a request for final transcript with the Registrar BEFORE YOU LEAVE SCHOOL!! You may also want to request one for yourself by turning in a stamped, self-addressed envelope.
GRADUATION CEREMONY
FRIDAY, June 10, 2011, 2:00 PM - University City High School Stadium Seniors must arrive to the auditorium at 12:45. Please be on time!
NOTE: Participation in the graduation ceremony is entirely voluntary. Therefore, if you have chosen to participate, you have knowingly volunteered to abide by all the rules and regulations established by the Senior Committee, the Graduation Planning Committee, and the school administration and district policies that govern the event.
1. Leave the robe bags at home! The gown company does not want them returned! 2. Report promptly to the auditorium at 12:45 PM. Don't be late! Graduates must CARRY CAP AND GOWN IN THEIR ARMS as they enter the auditorium at the west entrance only (nearest to the front of school). 3. Since Parking is very scarce, strict parking limitations will be enforced on the day of graduation. Specific details about those restrictions will be provided to all seniors well before graduation day. 4. Tickets. Each senior will be given only 6 tickets. If that is not enough to accommodate all of your guests, you must seek add, itional tickets from seniors who will not require 6 tickets. The school will have no extra tickets available! The stadium gates will open at 12:45 PM. Be sure to let guests know which side of the stadium to sit on in order to have the best view. 5. IN THE EVENT OF RAIN, the ceremony will still be conducted in the stadium so tell your guests to dress accordingly. 6. Apparel Regulations: (a) Boys: Dress pants, light colored or white dress shirt with collar. A tie & socks must be worn. (b) Girls: Dresses or dressy pant suits must be worn. Light colored clothes are best. Walking on the field in high heels is difficult and, therefore, high heels are not recommended. (c) Leave cell phones, purses, keys, flowers, cameras, balloons, etc. with someone. There is no where to store them during the ceremony. No balloons, flowers, or other distracting objects are permitted on the field. (d) Shoes must be worn by everybody. Dress shoes are expected (no tennis shoes or flip-flops). (e) No adornments or changes of any kind on caps and gowns. 7. Lineup Information (a) IMPORTANT: A lineup roster will be posted in several places throughout the campus. Read it and know your row and line position as well as the name of the person who precedes and follows you. 8. Photographs: A professional photography company will take individual pictures of each graduate. In addition, a videographer will be recording the ceremony. Consequently, NO GUESTS WILL BE ALLOWED ON THE FIELD BEFORE OR DURING THE CEREMONIES. The complete details of how to obtain your picture and/or a video of the ceremony will be explained at rehearsal. Please do not wear sunglasses when receiving your diploma since the quality of the photograph will be reduced. 9. Return of gowns: After the ceremony, gowns must be returned. Gowns are to be returned to the Activity Room, behind the Gymnasium, and ONLY SENIORS may enter. Please enter via east door. 10. Diplomas: At the Senior Breakfast on Monday, June 13, 2011, you will receive your diploma. If you are not going to attend the Senior Breakfast, please make arrangements with the Registrar, Mrs. Shoemaker, to have your diploma mailed to you.
PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENT FOR THE CEREMONY: I. Scholastic Requirements:
(a) A minimum of 44 credits earned in required and elective courses. (b) A minimum overall weighted grade point average (grades 9-12) of 2.00. (c) Demonstration of minimum proficiencies in English, mathematics, science, and social studies. (d) Presentation of a senior portfolio/exhibition. (e) Passage of the CAHSEE test.
II. Behavior Requirements:
(a) A student must maintain a record of satisfactory citizenship grades. Unsatisfactory citizenship may be evidenced by the following: (1) Citizenship grade point average below 2.00 using the following scale: E (Excellent) 4 points G (Good) 3 points S (Satisfactory) 2 points N (Not Satisfactory) 1 point U (Unsatisfactory) 0 points
(2) Noncompliance with school rules and regulations which result in disciplinary action by the school administration may jeopardize student’s participation in the graduation ceremony.
(b) Unsatisfactory citizenship marks and/or administrative action may place a senior on the ineligible list for participation in senior activities.
III. Senior Clearance (Indebtedness):
Seniors must clear all indebtedness no later than Wednesday, June 8, by 2:30 P.M. in order to participate in the Commencement. Indebtedness includes but is not limited to: textbooks and library books, financial office obligations, athletics (equipment and uniforms), transcript fees, classroom and lab equipment and supplies, etc. No diplomas will be issued until all indebtedness is cleared and the Senior Clearance form is fully completed.
GRAD NITE 2011
University City High School Gym FRIDAY, June 10, 8:30 p.m. - Saturday June 11, 5:00 a.m. (not a school-sponsored event; hosted by parents and community of UCHS)
1. Gym opens at 8:30 p.m. (must arrive by 10:00 p.m.).
2. Admission with ticket includes entertainment, chance to win prizes, food and beverage throughout the night/morning.
3. A parent/guardian will be called to pick you up if there is any evidence of alcohol or drug use
4. Once you have arrived at Grad Nite you must have written permission from parent/guardian to leave before 4:00 a.m.
SENIOR BREAKFAST-MARINA VILLAGE BAJA ROOM
MONDAY, June 13, 2011 9:00 a.m.
1. Cost is included in cap/gown order. There is no added charge. 2. All seniors in attendance at the breakfast will be entered into multiple give-away drawings. There will be GREAT prizes, so be sure to come and see if you’re a winner. 3. Students who need transportation to the Senior Breakfast should sign up for space on a bus with Ms. Fournier in Bungalow 5. Buses will leave the school at 8:30 a.m. Students can drive directly to Marina Village if they prefer. All students MUST complete field trip forms to attend Senior Breakfast since it is an off-site event on a school day. Field trip forms will be distributed through Senior English classes. 4. A catered breakfast will be provided. Bring school ID to check in at the breakfast. 5. After breakfast, you will receive your diploma. Students without a completed Senior Clearance form will have to return to UCHS after 11 a.m. on June 13th to complete the check out process before a diploma can be received.
