Social Studies6th Grade Ancient Civilizations Course Description: Our 6th grade students will analyze the Geographic, Political, Economic, Religious, Social, Industrial, and Arts and Literature structures of ancient civilizations. They will become aware how man has changed and what technological advances have caused that change. They will use critical thinking skills and learn about the cultures and beliefs of the people from the past. They will learn how archaeologists and various historians piece together the past from what was left behind. State Content Standards:
7th Grade World History/Geography Course Description: The goal of this class is to gain an appreciation for World History/Geography while improving student achievement in regards to reading and writing comprehension, critical thinking skills, and decision-making. We will cover the district's content standards while students learn how to work with their peers as well as appreciate some of the most significant medieval and early modern civilizations that persisted across the globe. State Content Standards: Students will analyze the geographic, political, economic, religious, and social structures of the following early modern civilizations:
8th Grade United States History Course Description: This course is based on the California State Standards for United States History and Geography and surveys American Colonization through Reconstruction and the beginning of the 20th Century. The lessons in this class will be created from the district issued textbook and supplemental work books, as well as other supplemental materials. The ultimate goal is to have the students be successful on the California State Examination in the spring. State Content Standards:
