Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo Elementary School is located in the Point Loma area of San Diego and serves students in grades K–4 from military and civilian families. Our diversity results from the many students coming from Liberty station Housing as well as from outside our school boundaries and attending Cabrillo through the district’s Voluntary Enrollment Exchange Program (VEEP) and Open Enrollment Program. A range of support opportunities is available for students needing additional assistance. The Cabrillo School Site Council and Site Governance Team (SSC/SGT) provides an opportunity for staff and community members to have input into curricular matters and school issues.
The mission of Cabrillo Elementary, and our K–4 Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) Nurturing program, is to provide academic excellence to our diverse, family-oriented community through a fostering and innovative critical thinking environment. In collaboration with parents and partnerships, we are dedicated to enriching students with challenging curriculum, exposure to visual and performing arts, and a comprehensive physical education to meet the needs of every student.
