Principal's Welcome Message

Principal LevyWelcome to Farb School, where we are very proud to be the first school-wide AVID middle school in the San Diego Unified School District. This is an enormous benefit to our students and staff, to serve as the example for educators from across the state to see the possibilities of an entire school focused on the proven AVID methods.

As principal,  I believe that students make their best progress in an atmosphere where academic achievement is a priority, and where students are safe and supported by caring teachers and staff. Most importantly, the staff and I believe that our students should be able to come to school every day and receive an exemplary education that meets high academic standards and provides learning opportunities that foster success for all students. All students should have the opportunity to attend college, to enroll in advanced training courses after high school or to serve our country in a military career. To better help them reach their potential, we have incorporated AVID strategies for success in all classes and offer AVID elective classes at each grade level. Learn more about AVID.
 
Farb's program offers a unique experience for students in each grade level.
  • Sixth graders will experience block scheduling and a modified self-contained schedule. Students will have one teacher for English/History and one for Math/Science. Each 6th grade student will also have PE and an elective as well as a morning Advisory period with first period. Each grade level will have their own lunch period.
  • Seventh graders will have more responsibility; moving from a full block schedule to a Humanities block. Students will have one teacher for English/History and separate teachers for all other subjects. All 7th grade students will also have PE and an elective.
  • Eighth graders will take on even more responsibility as they prepare for high school. All 8th graders will have 6 separate classes, PE and an elective. This gradual release of responsibility will provide students with a top-quality middle-school education.
