8th Grade Promotion Criteria
8th graders who exemplify the iMiddle Manner will be invited to attend a special recognition ceremony at the end of the year. In order for students to be promoted to the 9th grade, they must meet the academic standards of the San Diego Unified School District. School staff will communicate this information throughout the year.
In order to participate in the 8th grade Innovation Middle School Promotion Ceremony and Activities at the end of the year, students must meet the following criteria two weeks before the last day of school as determined by their teachers:
The student:
- Must have no “F” marks on the final 2nd semester report card (this is estimated by teachers two weeks prior to the promotion date).
- Must maintain Satisfactory Citizenship and must not have any “U” citizenship grades for the final 2nd semester report card.
- Must have no more than 10 tardies the entire year.
- Must not have more than two truancies the entire year.
- Must not have any overdue school fines for textbooks, library books, materials or equipment.
In addition: Two or more suspensions in one year or one or more Zero Tolerance (ZT) referrals will result in loss of privileges for the 8th grade ceremony and activities. Teachers and staff will have final discretion.
