Are you a problem-solver?

Do you like to help your friends solve disagreements?

Are you interested in learning valuable problem-solving skills?

Have you seen arguments on the playground and wished you could help?

Do you want to feel like YOU can make a difference?

Then Peace Patrol is for you!  Peace Patrollers help students solve problems on the playground.  Patrollers will learn valuable skills in helping their peers resolve conflicts.  Peace Patrollers make a difference at Bird Rock Elementary!

Bird Rock Elementary is now recruiting its patrollers for the 2011-2012 school year.  If you are a CURRENT 3rd or 4th grader and will be a 4th or 5th grader at BRE for the 2011-2012 school year, than you are eligible!

Our Peace Patrollers are on duty ONE day per week at lunch recess for 20 minutes.  Peace Patrollers are either assigned to the Kindergarten area or are on the blacktop with the 1st/2nd graders.  Peace Patrollers always work in pairs.  Patrollers will be required to attend 2 training sessions at the start of the year, attend monthly one-hour training sessions, and commit to performing their Peace Patrol duties for the entire 2010-2011 school year.

Members will be selected based upon application, parental permission, and any recommendations of teachers, staff, and Principal Viavada. (recommendations are not required)

New members are invited to attend our training session at the end of May and will also train alongside current members during the last few weeks of this school year.
