About Silver Gate School
Silver Gate represents all the best of tradition, innovation and community in a school. Our school has stood at the edge of the Pacific Ocean in the Point Loma neighborhood since 1951, and it has educated generations of students. It was named for its position as the Silver Gate to the Pacific.
What makes our school special is the incredible educational support from our staff and community. We are committed to creating a warm and inviting environment for every child to thrive.
We are proud to continuously focus on teaching and learning, supporting every child to reach a personal best. Silver Gate creates many challenging and exciting opportunities, encouraging the success of each child. Among the many awards our school has won in its distinguished tenure has been the prestigious California Distinguished School honor (2006). Our scores on standardized tests (API) rank consistently above 800, placing us in the top 15 percent of schools statewide.
Our top-notch staff includes several experienced mentor teachers. Several of Silver Gate’s highly trained staff members have been recognized for their excellence in teaching.
Community support bolsters our positive learning environment. The Friends of Silver Gate Foundation promotes widespread involvement at our school by hosting special events and raising funds.
Parents volunteer as tutors and chaperones. We value our partnerships with the U.S. Navy and San Diego Port District. Our partners’ employees tutor students, assist at school events and serve as valuable resources to our staff and school. Come see Silver Gate Gators in action!
