About Us
Bayview Terrace is located in the Pacific Beach area in the middle of the Admiral Hartman military housing development. Approximately 70 percent of our students are English language learners, and about 30 percent are military and local families.
Our vision is to increase student achievement by improving teaching in a powerful community of learners. We believe all students are gifted and talented. In addition to immersion and other good teaching strategies, we implement a variety of GATE strategies designed to foster deeper levels of thinking and understanding. All students receive weekly music instruction with our music prep teacher.
We continue to refine our instructional practices and make program enhancements as we gain knowledge through research, daily experiences, and the demands of an ever-changing world.
We are a small, neighborhood school that strives to include families in the school community. Through collaboration between the school, home and community, our students will become responsible members of society with a lifelong love of learning.
We encourage family involvement and offer opportunities throughout the school year for parents to volunteer. We have military support groups and clubs and a partnership with Washington Mutual Bank. On monthly "Family Fridays," parents and children read in the classrooms and attend a principal’s chat. We provide parent workshops around literacy and math to strengthen the home-school connection. Parent classes and workshops are offered in both English and Spanish.
