Dual Enrollment Information for Students, Parents and Guardians
San Diego Unified Students
Students who are enrolled at participating San Diego Unified high schools may sign up through their counselors to take one or two online courses through iHigh Virtual Academy. This is accomplished through "dual enrollment," in which the student is taking classes through both the "home" high school and iHigh Virtual Academy. Students that are interested in Dual Enrollment should please contact their school counselors for details.
Approximately 500 students from 22 SDUSD school sites are currently dual-enrolled in online iHigh courses.
Most iHigh courses are offered in both quarter (9 week) or semester (18 week) sessions. Advanced Placement courses are semester-only format. Semesters are strongly recommended for Spanish and French courses.
STUDENTS: Please do not complete the online iHigh application unless you are interested in fulltime enrollment at iHigh.
Students Currently Attending Other Districts, Private Schools & Charter Schools
Students who attend schools outside of San Diego Unified must pay a cost-recovery fee in order to take online courses through iHigh. This is because there is a cost to our district to license the courses, pay the instructors, and provide the course materials. The cost varies depending on the course. The range is approximately $220 to $300 per semester enrollment.
Students from anywhere in San Diego County who wish to attend iHigh Virtual Academy fulltime at no cost may do so by applying for an interdistrict transfer. For example, we currently have students who live in Sweetwater, Grossmont, San Dieguito and Coronado school districts but attend iHigh Virtual Academy on an interdistrict transfer.
For more information on interdistrict transfers or cost-recovery enrollment or , please contact Patty MacIntyre, iHigh Principal, at 619-209-4591 or pmacintyre@sandi.net.
