If your child has any health issue that might cause him/her distress or impair with the educational process in any way, please inform the school nurse. These health issues may include allergies, asthma, medical/physical impairments, or emotional issues. If you have any questions, concerns, or need clarification, contact the school nurse in person of via email. Nurse office hours are Tuesday, Thursday & Friday from 7:15am to 2:30pm.
If your child requires medication to be administered at school, please give the medicine directly to the school nurse. Do not give to the office staff or teacher. Parents need to complete paper work and often times the doctor needs to be involved.
Student Injury or Illness
When your child has an injury or illness that affects his or her participation in Physical Education for more than three school days, parents need to provide the nurse with a note from their doctor stating the length of the limitation. Once the child is ready to participate, a release note from the doctor is required.
On-Line Health Resources
"Smart Moves, Smart Choices" (www.macneil-lehrer.com/thenews/themedic) is a school-based program for middle and high school students. The program is a collaboration between the National Association of School Nurses and PriCara(tm), a division of Ortho-McNeil-Janssen Pharmaceuticals, Inc. The goal of the program is to educate teens about the serious risks of abusing prescription medicines, such as those used legitimately to treat pain. The program features a video series and Web-based resources targeted to school nurses, teachers and parents. Called the.Medic and produced by MacNeil/Lehrer Productions' the.News, each video takes a news-based approach and is accompanied by science and language arts curricula. A series of assemblies in areas of the country with a high rate of prescription drug abuse among youths will bring together students, educators, parents and community members to generate a dialogue on the issue. the.Medic Video Topics:
