Dear Parents/Guardians, Lewis Middle School invites you to attend our 1st meeting to learn about continuing this year's English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC). The purpose of ELAC is to make recommendations and give advice to our principal and school staff about the best possible educational opportunities for our English Learner students. The English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC) is an important committee that gives input and makes recommendations regarding the program we provide for our students who are English Learners. The committee members monitor student progress through test data and attendance data. They make recommendations about the use of EL funds and the selection of instructional materials. Parents of English Learners are encouraged to join this committee, but all parents are welcome. The next meeting will be held in October 23rd, 2012 at 6:00 PM, in the school library. El proposito de ELAC es hacer recomendaciones y dar consejos al director y al personal de la escuela con respecto a las mejores maneras de cómo poder asistir a los estudiantes en Vías de Aprender Ingles (EL) - academicamente en nuestra escuela. El Comité Consultivo para Alumnos en Vías de Aprender Inglés (ELAC) es un comité muy importante cual da informacion y da recomendaciones con respecto a los programas proveidos para los Estudinates en Vías de Aprender Ingles (EL). La mesa directiva de ELAC se mantinen infomados en el progreso y atendencia de los ELs. Al mismo tiempo dan recomendaciones según los fondos monitarios y en la selección de mateirales instructivos. Los padres de los Estudinates en Vías de Aprender Ingles (EL) se les recomiendan el tomar parte de ELAC, pero todos los padres estan bienvenidos.
