Mission Statement

Our mission is to provide students with a Comprehensive Guidance Program. It is our belief that counseling is as crucial to education as the classroom experience. Our approach is results-based. We will meet the needs of all students, by providing a preventative, wellness oriented, proactive form of counseling. The contemporary developmental middle school counselor is curriculum and program oriented, is available to all, and is knowledgeable and competent to teach life skills to every student in the school regardless of race, religion, gender or creed.

The Lewis Middle School Counseling Program has been developed in accordance with  the American School Counselor Association and complies with National Standards for School Counseling Programs.

The Lewis Counseling and Guidance Programs supports and implements the San Diego City Schools Counseling and Guidance Mission Statement:

"The San Diego City Schools' Counseling and Guidance program supports teaching and learning by assuring that all students achieve academic success and develop life skills through the acquisition of academic, career and personal/social competencies which will prepare them for meaningful participation in a diverse, changing world."
