John Muir school moved to its current site in the fall of 2005. The 1960’s elementary site was freshly painted, cleaned, and updated to accommodate the K–12 student body. In the next three years we received additional upgrades thanks to Proposition MM and other funding. This included a bus turn-around, a new library (with a $100,000 book and media collection), a lunch court, remodeled science classrooms, and updated electrical and data wiring. Our auditorium boasts a state-of-the-art audio-visual system. We have new playground equipment that meets state and federal safety regulations.
In the near future, as our student population reaches 440, additional rooms will be needed to accommodate student classes. Muir retains the charming original landscaping, enriched by student projects like the kinder garden (part of the science curriculum) and edible produce maintained by science and the AVID classes. As part of their study of global citizenship, students have learned the importance of keeping the site clean and free of litter. Maintaining a safe and orderly campus is a high priority at John Muir. The building supervisor oversees all facility needs and is supported by the district’s Physical Plant Operations department.
Library Media Center
Students are encouraged to use Muir Library Media Center. Our new building, opened in 2008, is the heart of our school. Hours are 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM Mondays and Tuesdays.
