Dear students, parents, guardians and community members,
Welcome to John Muir School and the 2013-14 school year! I was recently appointed principal of John Muir and I'm very excited and humbled for this great opportunity to work with all of you in such a unique learning environment.
My professional career with the district spans over twenty five years working with very diverse student populations. Over the past five years I served as principal of The Stanley E. Foster Construction Tech Academy located on the Kearny High Educational Complex. I’m very proud of the great academic gains we made during my tenure at CTA. Before this, I served as vice principal at Morse High School, then one of the largest urban high schools in the district. I also had the privilege of being a middle school science teacher, a resource teacher with the District’s Intern Program and a program specialist with the Educational Technology Department.
I have built my career in education around the core belief that respect, fairness, tolerance and empathy are the basic principles adults need to live by in order to effectively guide our students through the very complex pathway of becoming productive citizens. In addition of working to provide an opportunity for all students to grow as productive citizens, I have focused my attention on providing students with an optimum environment to succeed academically. I’m fully committed to ensure that all students are given access to a rigorous and well-rounded education that prepares them to be citizens of a global community.
The Muir staff and I are completely invested to ensure that all of our students are engaged through a rigorous and a supportive educational experience. We look forward to continue to build a strong school culture by working closely with all of you.
Parents and guardians, we thank you for entrusting your child’s education to us. Your child is our most valuable customer and as our partner in education, we want you to feel welcomed and respected when you visit our school. Please be part of your child’s experience at Muir by:
