2012-2013 Holmes Elementary SSC/SGT
Membership of both the SSC and SGT:
School Site Councils and Site Governance Teams are comprised of parents, community members, and staff, who are selected by each of their constituent groups.
School Site Council (SSC) Overview:
School Site Council (SSC) Responsibilities:
SSCs provide oversight of the academic planning and budgeting process associated with the Single Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA) in order to meet the needs of all students. SSCs provide meaningful consultation with the principal to oversee the implementation, monitoring, and revision of the SPSA, including reviewing and analyzing data; consulting with advisory groups; evaluating programs and activities; and allocating the expenditure of funds available to the school through categorical programs.
The Site Governance Team (SGT) discusses and plans for all aspects regarding teaching and learning. They design and implement effective strategies for the continuous improvement of all students' achievements through quality teaching and learning experiences at school. SGT is a site-based, decision-making group created through a local agreement between San Diego Unified School District (SDUSD) and the San Diego Education Association (SDEA).
Site Governance Team (SGT) Responsibilities:
SGT members act as an advisory body on issues other than major categorical programs. The Holmes Elementary SGT provides a shared decision-making base empowered to plan, problem solve, and make recommendations to improve the quality of education and working life at Holmes Elementary.
"Minutes, agendas, sign-in sheets, handouts, and other documents from SSC meetings, and the SPSA (Single Plan for Student Achievement) are public record. Documents are kept in the office and available for viewing by request."
