Senior Activities

Dear Parent/Guardian of Mission Bay High School Seniors:

As a parent of a prospective graduate of the Mission Bay High School Class of 2011, you are undoubtedly looking forward to having your child enjoy all of the wonderful senior activities that are planned for the rest of year, culminating with the commencement ceremony.  In a letter dated November 30, 2009, I addressed the eligibility issues for participation in senior activities at Mission Bay High School.  I want to review these so that students and parents understand the eligibility requirements for Senior Activities and participation in commencement.

  • Only students who meet the graduation requirements for the district (2.0 or higher GPA, earned 44 credits in grades nine through twelve, satisfactorily passed the Senior exhibition/portfolio),and passed the English language arts and mathematics portion of the CAHSEE may earn a High School Diploma.
  • Only students who have met the graduation requirement above, have a cumulative GPA in citizenship of 2.0 or higher (during their senior year), have no more than 3 unexcused class periods, have turned in their portfolios on time (and passed the exhibition), and have been cleared by senior review, may participate in the commencement ceremony.
  • Senior Brunch and attending the Senior Prom have the same requirements listed above.

If seniors choose to violate behavior guidelines, such as senior pranks, inappropriate behavior at school sponsored events, or other suspendable offenses they will be prohibited from participating in all remaining senior activities including commencement.  Please take the time to discuss the contents of this letter with your child so that they are aware of these expectations.

If you have questions regarding this policy please call either James Michaelian (ext. 101) or Gretchen Rhoads (ext. 109).  Thank you for your support.

Sincerely,

Fred Hilgers

Principal
