The Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) course focuses on leadership that is a directly applicable life-skill students can use after high school. JROTC students perform a wide variety of skills that develop their leadership abilities; armed and unarmed drilling, marksmanship training and competitions, and color guard (which you will see performing during home football games) are a few of the unique events available through the program. They will also be involved in community volunteer work, like V.A (Veteran Affairs) and a special program called Toys 4 Tots

This fine program is the only Marine Corps JROTC program within San Diego School District and will help prepare our students for life after high school. There are absolutely no requirements or expectations for students, referred to as cadets, to join the military after high school. Instead, cadets are assigned leadership positions while receiving instruction on how be better organized and to be accountable and responsible for their own actions and sometimes other students as well. The program helps connect students to scholarships opportunities later in the spring. JROTC is a team-driven famliy of students and staff that presents a fresh alternative to students at Mission Bay and is a compliment to other great programs such as the IB program.

Skills taught will include:

• Interpersonal communication
• Armed & unarmed drills
• Leadership
• Physical Fitness and Health
• Team Work
• Self Discipline
• Goal-setting and priorities in life
