Dear Oak Park Students, Parent, Community members and Visitors,

Welcome to the 2012-2013 school year! Our teaching, office, and custodial staff have been diligently working to plan and prepare for what is going to be a promising school year! We are eager to meet all of you and share what makes Oak Park a very special place to teach and learn.

We have a great deal of work to do as we prepare our students for success on the National Common Core Assessments. As we plan classroom instruction to meet student learning needs, we will reflect on the following questions regarding Oak Park:

What should our students know?

How will we know when they have learned it?

How will we respond if they have not learned it?

How will we respond when they already know it?

How will we challenge our students to use higher level thinking skills?

I have no doubt that we will be successful in preparing our students to be proficient and advanced on district and state assessments, as well as have evidence of growth in all of our classes, for all students. I look forward to supporting teachers in incorporating the components of our rich music program into the curriculum at each grade level. Our students are so fortunate to have such intelligent, skilled, talented, and dedicated teachers instructing and caring for them. Thank you to all of the families who have shared kind words and extended a warm welcome. I am excited for the journey ahead and am confident that Oak Park will continue to thrive and shine as a high performing elementary school and music conservatory!
