Dear Oak Park Students, Parents, Community members and Visitors,
Welcome to the 2014-2015 school year! Our teaching, office, and custodial staff have been diligently working to plan and prepare for what is going to be a promising school year! We are eager to meet all of you and share what makes Oak Park a very special place to teach and learn.
Congratulations Oak Park school community! Teachers and students should be proud of their hard work, effective teaching, and learning. Our CST results evidenced the achievement gains at Oak Park, where we surpased our API Goal of 800! We grew from API 752 (2011-2012) to API 811 (2012-2013)! We also met ALL 25 of our AYP targets for all student and ethnic groups! I am so proud of our teachers and students! We are truly on our way up! Go Oak Park! You Rock!
What do we want our students to learn?
How will we know when they have learned it?
How will we respond if they have not learned it?
How will we respond when they have learned it?
How will we challenge our students to use higher level thinking skills?
I have no doubt that we will be successful in preparing our students to be proficient and advanced on district and state assessments, as well as have evidence of growth in all of our classes, for all students. I look forward to supporting teachers in incorporating the components of our rich music program into the curriculum at each grade level. Our students are so fortunate to have such intelligent, skilled, talented, and dedicated teachers instructing and caring for them. Thank you parents for supporting and partnering with us to educate your child. I am excited to lead us in another great year and am confident that Oak Park will continue to thrive and shine as a high performing elementary school and music conservatory!
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions, concerns, comments, or you just want to give us a nice compliment! We welcome them all! We are here to serve and make this school the best place in San Diego Unified for your child to learn! Have a wonderful day!
