History

Washington Elementary School has been the academic heart of Little Italy Since 1914. The school's ties to the community have been forged over time. During the 1920's and 1930's, Italian-Americans in the community began to attend Washington and mold the neighborhood's character.

Today, the school continues to change and adapt to meet the growing needs of Downtown San Diego. Washington Elementary School is a dynamic environment that honors the traditions and customs of the past as it embraces the ideas that form the future.
