Elizabeth Larkin is the founding principal of San Diego Early/Middle College, a high school on the campus of City College. She holds a master’s degree in educational leadership from University of San Diego and a bachelor’s degree in English from UCLA. Her philosophy of equity and strong support for underserved students has guided her career for the past 30 years with San Diego Unified School District. Before becoming an administrator, she taught English and AVID at Point Loma and Garfield High schools. She was vice principal at ALBA before being appointed principal at San Diego Early/Middle College in 2008. In addition to her work with San Diego Unified, she has been an adjunct professor at USD in their School of Leadership and Education’s graduate program. Ms. Larkin currently serves on the leadership council and is a field principal for the California Coalition of Early and Middle Colleges, which advocates for early and middle colleges. Ms. Larkin and her husband have an adult son and two dogs. Being principal of San Diego Early/Middle College is her dream job.
