Facilities

Fletcher is a small school that has both permanent and temporary classrooms. The layout allows for a comfortable atmosphere and ideal learning environment. Teachers are able to teach in teams and work together to meet the needs of all children. We share a joint-use park with the San Diego Parks and Recreation Department, which provides a grass field and areas where children can play or simply relax in a natural setting. In addition, we have an extra wing where our special education support staff is housed. It allows them to collaborate in a timely manner.

Our school grounds are kept clean and orderly. Students and staff members take pride in the cleanliness of the school, and the community supports us in this. When there is a need for maintenance or repair, it is done in an efficient manner. If our on-site staff is not able to handle it, the district’s mobile maintenance team or other personnel are alerted. At this time, we are looking forward to having the playground resurfaced and repainted.

Fletcher has received many upgrades thanks to Proposition MM,  including a new library wired for technology and two additional work spaces, new playground structures for all playground areas, fencing around the front of the school, and a lunch-court structure.

Providing safe and well-maintained schools is a top priority for the school district. To ensure that all classrooms and facilities are maintained in a manner that supports instruction, a scheduled maintenance program is administered by the district.

To further support learning, a variety of tutoring areas, such as tables with umbrellas and resource rooms are available. A literacy garden, which adjoins the counseling center, supports students who choose to read during recess.

Major investment in the school is underway with voter-approved funding from Proposition S school bond. The school's location is convenient to the I-805 and 163 freeways. It sits in the heart of the Bird Land neighborhood in Kearny Mesa, providing easy access for families and our many volunteers and community partners sto reach.
