Food ServicesThe Food Services Department is committed to providing healthy school meals and snacks to the students of the San Diego Unified School District. The team of dedicated food and nutrition professionals supports student academic success and promotes healthful eating habits that lead to lifelong positive nutrition practices. School meals are served to sudents under the National School Lunch Program and the School Breakfast Program and follow the nutrition guidelines prescribed by The Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010. The law was designed to reduce the incidence of childhood obesity by providing healthier choices to students. Program Goals
Meal ProgramsSDUSD's meal programs have received national recognition and many awards for their innovation and quality of service. With the new meal regulations we continue to raise the standards of school food. The café concepts of the two main meal programs, Kid's Choice Café in elementary schools and SanDi Coast Café in secondary schools, present a healthy, attractive, convenient and fun atmosphere for students.
