    ·        8th Grade Yearbook Memory Ad is now on sale.  Tell your parents about purchasing an 8th grade Memory Ad.  Please see Ms. Henson in the Financial Office or Room 103 to get your order form.  Because space is limited in the yearbooks for ads, you must order now!  Last day to order is March 12th.  Mendoza/Yearbook

    ·        Attention 8th Graders:  The National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) will be given on Wednesday, March 4.  The students selected to participate in NAEP will be representing the achievements of our school.  The results will be calculated with other schools to see the educational progress of our country.  The outcome of this test is often referred to as “The Nation’s Report Card.”  Testing will begin promptly at 8:52 a.m. at the start of 2nd period.  This is not a test you need to study for but please do your best.  The students selected have been notified and they will receive their reminder in advisory class on March 4.  This reminder is to be used as a pass to go to the library and also to return back to class after completion of the test.  On the day of testing, selected students will go directly to the library from their Period 1 class.  Students will return to class upon completion of the test.  The test may take up to 90 minutes.  Remember to do your best!  Moreno

    ·        You and your family are invited to attend Family Math Night on Thursday, March 12 from 6:00 -  8:00 p.m.  This will be a fun night full of math activities for you and your family to do together.  Students will need to be accompanied by an adult.  Math Department

    ·        Calling all eighth graders!  Are you interested in being a Mira Mesa High School cheerleader?  Learn about the upcoming tryout process and what it means to be a Marauder cheerleader by attending the informational meeting and clinic on Saturday, February 28th.  The meeting will take place at 9:00 a.m. in the Mira Mesa High School Cheer/Dance Room.  Parents/Guardians are encouraged to attend.  Following the meeting there will be an optional clinic for you to learn some of the moves that will be taught at tryouts.  No experience is required!  Visit the MMHS cheer website at sandi.net/domain/2470 to download a permission slip for the clinic.  For more information please email Ms. Hardson-Hurley at khardsonhurley@sandi.net or visit the cheer page at http:www.sandi.net/doman/2470.

    ·        Don’t miss Wangenheim’s Science Night!  Friday, February 27th from 5:00-7:30 p.m.  This event is for the WHOLE family.  Come and experience a variety of hands-on science activities from brains to geodes to chemistry to water bottle race cars and more!!  Ask your science teacher how to earn extra credit =)  Food and drinks will be available for purchase.  Students must be accompanied by a parent.  See you there!  Ryder

    ·        Our Holiday Sock Drive yielded 287 gifts and $500 in gift cards to the Polinsky Center’s Promises2Kids program.  Our spirit of giving demonstrated that our community cares about the well-being and happiness of foster children.  Mr. Uhuru

    ·        Pasta for Pennies is in its last week!  Ms. Fehlhaber and Ms. Douglas are fighting for the win!  Here is your chance to earn more money for your class in fun ways!  1) Want to listen to your music at lunch?  Bring $1 on Thursday, 2/26 and buy a wristband before school or during lunch.  2) Buy votes to see your teachers do crazy stuff!  25 cents per vote to see your teacher either kiss a snake, have a sundae made on their head, or see them dressed as the wildcat during your advisory period.  Votes will be sold during lunch on Tuesday and Wednesday.  Friday is the last day!  Please bring all your donations as soon as possible!  Chambless

    ·        Hello Wildcats:  Keep putting your plastic bottles and aluminum cans in the big, blue bins on the lunch court J.  Do NOT put any plastic bottles or aluminum cans in the gray trash cans!!!!  If you see anybody about to throw a plastic bottle or aluminum can into the gray trash can, politely stop them and tell them to put it in the blue bin.  Together we can help the planet J.  Thank you!  Recycling Club

    ·         MMHS Counselors will meet with eighth grade students during English classes on 2/10 to hand out course request forms and will return on 2/12 to meet individually with students.  Holm

    ·         Congratulations to our Bowling Club for winning the five-foot first place trophy against Challenger Middle School.  The trophy is in the Main Office by Dr. Fallon’s window.  Congratulations to

    Josh Atwood, Josh Johnson, Ashley Critchley, Angelina Scimone, Nathaniel Cardenas, Brian Cruz,

    Nikko Edwards, Lyndee Williams, and Xavier Weckman.  The next season begins February 11th.  Posters will be posted with more details.  Mr. Uhuru

    ·         Students:  Remember to leave the computer settings as is in the Math Lab.  We need you to exercise self-control and responsibility.  Mr. Uhuru

    ·         Book Lockers:  The Book Lockers are a special privilege and are not entitled to all students.  Only students with a 3.0 GPA with no N’s or U’s will be eligible for a Book Locker.   Mr. Uhuru

    1)  Mr. Uhuru will begin implementing the Book Lock procedures on Monday 2/9 through

    Wednesday 2/11 before and after school (7:00-7:25 and 2:20-2:30).

        2) Mr. Uhuru will set up a station outside of his office facing the 500 Building.

        3) Students will need to show Mr. Uhuru their final report cards from last year to be eligible.

        4) Eligible students will be given the Book Locker contract to take home for parents and themselves to sign and return to Mr. Uhuru.

        5) Students have the option of purchasing a used combination lock for $3 or purchasing their own combination lock.

        6) There are limited amounts of Book Lockers – First come, first served.
