    • NJHS Club Members:  Last meeting, awards, and party is Wednesday, June 10th.  See Ms. Slezak for party food sign-ups.  (Ms. Slezak)

    • Yu-gi-ho Club meeting Tuesday, June 9  2:15-3:00 – Room 605.  The tournament continues!  (Ms. Reilly)

    • Thank you Wildcats for supporting the ice cream fundraiser this year.  This week, ALL ICE CREAM IS HALF PRICE – .50 cents each!  (Ms. Reilly)

    • Enjoy reading?  Want to keep up your reading/thinking skills over the summer?  Consider joining the FREE Wangenheim Summer Book Club to read and discuss a novel with your peers and one of our English teachers.  The club will run from June 23rd to August 31st (clubs will meet for various dates).  Registration directions will soon be posted on the Wangenheim website under the student tab.  We have a limited number of books that can be checked out at the library starting June 11th. Book titles are: Boys without Names, Keeping Corner, Elanor and Park, Every Soul a Star, Zero Tolerance, One Crazy Summer, and Iqbal  (Ms. Zelman)

    • Yearbook Signing Reminders:  Permanent markers are allowed on campus.  When you allow someone to write in your yearbook, please maintain supervision over your yearbook.

    • No Backpacks:  Students - Backpacks will not be permitted beginning on Thursday, Friday, and the last day of school on Monday.  You may bring your binder/notebook, writing utensils and yearbook.  Students with backpacks will be sent to the office.  Your backpack will be stored in the office until the end of the day.  (Administrators)

    • School rules will still be reinforced during the last week of school.  Continue to demonstrate the PAWS Wildcat Way.  Some examples include:  following directions the first time given, using academic language, controlling your words and actions, and respecting adults and classmates.  (Administrators)

    • Staff vs. 8th Graders:  Come and see the 8th Graders vs. Staff in soccer and basketball.  The soccer game is on Wednesday, June 10th at 2:40 on the field; the basketball game is on Friday, June 12th at 2:40 on the basketball court.  (Mr. Uhuru)

      8th Grade Players:  Submit your waiver to your P.E. teacher by Tuesday, June 9th.  Meet

      Mr. Uhuru outside of his office at 2:20 p.m. on June 9th for a brief meeting.  (Mr. Uhuru)

    • Mira Mesa High School Athletic Presentation:  Presentation about MMHS athletic programs will be on Wednesday, June 10th during both lunches in the Activity Room.  Their presentation is targeted for 8th graders.  (Mr. Uhuru)

    • Students:  Yearbooks are going fast!  Less than 100 are left so get yours now!  Price is $40 – cash only.  Yearbook Distribution:  8th Grade – June 4th at 11:40 in the Activity Room. 

      6th/7th Grade  - June 8th during both lunches in the Library.  (Ms. Henson)

    • Students:  Please return your spring pictures or turn in your money by June 5.  (Office)

    • Congratulations to Ms. Ryder & Ms. Mullen and the Sea Pearch Club for winning Sea Pearch Innovation Design for 2015!  (Mr. Uhuru) 

    • On May 20th and 21st  65 (sixth, seventh and eighth grade) Seminar students participated in the San Diego Regional Junior Model United Nations conference at the Joan Kroc Peace and Justice Center at USD.  The students selected countries and committees.  They spent the year researching and preparing position papers, resolutions, and speeches to present at the conference.  Wangenheim students gave an impressive performance.  The following students won awards:  Florence Ye and Samantha Roberts received Outstanding Delegate awards for Regional Security Council.  In addition, Florence Ye received the Gavel award, which is the highest honor a delegate can be awarded in committee.  Isabelle Welsh received the Economic award for Environmental Committee.  Timothy Holmes and Valerie Tran received Committee Commendation awards.   (Ms. Vanderhurst)

    • NJHS Members!  Please take note:  Our next and LAST meeting is Wednesday, June 11th in

      Room 804.  Please bring a treat to share.  Certificates will be given out for membership.  See you then!  (Ms. Slezak)

    • No Yu-gi-oh Club this week.  See you during the week of June 1st.  (Ms. Reilly)

    • Students:  Please check the lost & found before the school year ends.  The lost & found is in the Health Office or outside the Health Office on some days.  (Health Office)

    • Attention 8th Graders:  This is a reminder that you must ride the bus and have your ID with you to attend the 8th Grade dinner dance/cruise.  Don’t forget your picture package if you want to order pictures – pictures must be pre-ordered.  The buses will be leaving the Wangenheim parking lot at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 30th and will be returning at approximately 10:00 p.m.  If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Stevens.  (Mrs. Stevens)

      Mrs. Stevens in the office.  Tickets are $25.  LAST DAY TO BUY TICKETS IS MAY 22ND

      Remember, you cannot have  ●suspensions ●5 or more tardies  ●5 or more period ISS  ●truancies  ●you must have a cleared library account.  You must have an I.D. card to purchase your ticket.  **Students and chaperones must ride the bus to and from Wangenheim to attend the dinner cruise. **(PTSA)

    PARENT ANNOUNCEMENTS:

    • Parents of SeaPerch Club members:  The competition against SeaPerch teams from other schools is Saturday, May 16th.  Please bring your child to the school (west/main entrance) by 2:50 p.m. – the bus leaves at 3:00 p.m.  We will be back at 5:45 p.m.  Thank you!   (Mrs. Ryder)

       

       

      STUDENT ANNOUNCEMENTS:

    • SeaPerch Team Members:  Be sure to attend our meetings this week!  We will be preparing for the competition with information about the Maze Challenge.  Competition is THIS Saturday, May 16th.  Please meet at the front of the school at 2:50 p.m. – the bus leave at 3:00 p.m.  Also, some of you have not completed the online survey after the shark tank dive.  See me as soon as possible.  (Mrs. Ryder)

    • Swim Club:  Monday, May 11th  2:30-3:30 in Room 605.  (Ms. Reilly)

    • Yu-gi-ho Club:  Tuesday, May 12th  2:30-3:30 in Room 605.  (Ms. Reilly)

    • Congratulations to our Bowling Club Champions:  Nathaniel Cardenas, Joshua Johnson,

      Joshua Atwood, Victor Tran, Brian Cruz, Jose Alcazar, Angelina Scimone, and Lyndee Williams.  We won the 5-foot trophy for two consecutive semesters.  It’s displayed in front of Dr. Fallon’s office.  Join us in September for the fall bowling season. (Mr. Uhuru)

    • Congratulations to our 8th graders.  They completed their annual CST/CMA Test for Science last week.  All of our science teachers (Mr. Grendziak, Ms. Madsen, Ms. Mullen, Ms. Ryder,

      Mr. Gaudi, and Ms. Oskam) have prepared our 8th graders to achieve beyond the California Science Standards.  (Mr. Uhuru)

    • PrimeTime Summer Applications are due by May 15th.  Applications are available on our school’s Webpage.  (Mr. Uhuru)
