An academic outreach program to enhance early college preparedness
and awareness for middle and high school students.
The SDSU Talent Search program is an educational opportunity program funded by the U. S. Dept. of Education to assist middle and high school students pursue post-secondary educational programs.
Our main purpose is to identify qualified youths and guide them in the process
of enrolling in an institution of post-secondary education and providing information on the availability of financial aid. The program provides academic, career and financial counseling to students in selected schools in the San Diego City Schools and Sweetwater Unions High School District.
Academic Advisors are assigned to each school site to assist students with the following:
General guidance
Academic counseling
Exploration of career options
SAT/ACT test information
College visits
Assistance with college applications
Financial aid information/assistance with financial aid application
Guidance in post-secondary choices
Career Awareness: Individual counseling
Motivational/Informational group sessions
Tutoring
