Reporting an Absence Regular and prompt attendance is the responsibility of both you and your parents/guardian. If you are absent, your parents/guardian must call the Grace Parra at the Attendance Office at 582-8990 Extension 2209 or send a note with you when you return to school. All absences must be cleared within 3 days. Absences that are not cleared will become truancy's. School starts at 7:10 a.m. All students must be in their seat by 7:15 a.m. Students out of their 1st period class at 7:15 a.m. will be considered TARDY, which will result in further consequences as set forth by the classroom teacher and school administration. Parents of students who will be absent from school for 5 days or more may request a "Homework Contract" at least one week prior to the absence. This will allow you to complete your homework when you are away and receive credit for the absences. Medical/Dental appointments should be made before or after school hours. Students are expected to attend at least part of the day at school before or after their appointment. Any change of address or phone number should be reported to the Attendance Office as soon as possible. Truancy If you forgot your note to clear an absence, you will be considered temporarily truant, and will have three days to clear it by bringing a note to school. After three days, you will be considered truant for the days you were not in school. If you are out of class without permission or a pass, you are considered truant. A note the next day will not excuse you. Tardies Students are considered tardy if not in class by 7:15 a.m. bell. A late pass is not needed for students who arrive before 7:20 a.m. Go directly to class. Tardies will affect citizenship grades. |
