Dean of Students - Mr. D. Wong

I am excited and proud to be part of the San Diego Met team this year! I look forward to collaborating with students, parents and staff in order to continue the positive and productive atmosphere here at the Met.  It has been very humbling to learn more about the Big Picture Learning model.  I have found another proven method to improve student achievement that I was totally unaware of.  It is always an eye-opener to find out about something that "I did not know that I did not know of".  Several aspects of the San Diego Met stand out, including a college going culture, an atmosphere of support and an superior internship program.  (see Jill Badger's webpage).

I have worked in San Diego Unified for many years and have served many roles under the umbrellas of teacher, athletic coach, teacher trainer and site administrator. Over the past ten years, I have been a Content Administrator and Vice Principal at the secondary level, which has given me a better understanding of how to prepare our students to be successful in high school and beyond.  Now, I am learning about another way to help more students move to their path towards success.

On a personal note, I was born and raised in San Diego, attending schools within SDUSD, then UCSD (B.A. in Mathematics) and San Diego State University (Masters in Educational Supervision). I have been married for over 30 years and have two sons.

I have constructed the Master Schedule, designed incoming students' class schedules, reviewed graduation credits, and served as the WASC Site Coordinator, in addition to the PSAT, CST and CAHSEE Testing Coordinator .  Also, I have been assigned to create and maintain the current school website.
