In accordance with State of California regulations, students must wear footwear at school. To ensure the protection of the bottom of the feet, all footwear must have soles.House slippers (bedroom slippers) are not considered safe footwear and are not allowed.Red, blue, and green shoelaces are not permitted.In addition, more than two items of clothing that are red, blue, or green are not permitted,including backpacks.
Clothing or jewelry may not display profanity, provocative or suggestive statements, obscenities, advertising for drugs, alcohol, tobacco products, illegal activities, gambling or gang identification.
Spikes on bracelets, belts, rings, large earrings or necklaces are not allowed. Wallet chains are not allowed. In addition, for safety purposes, or if any of these items are deemed a distraction to teaching and learning, items may be confiscated.
Students may only wear official school hats outdoors on campus. Only unaltered medically or religiously required hats/head coverings, as approved by the school principal, are allowed indoors. Students may not wear hoods.
The torso should not be visible. Specifically, students may not wear: bra tops, tube tops, halter tops, short skirts or blouses, asymmetrical shirts or cut off t-shirts. The straps of any shirt must be at least 2 inches thick in width. No low cut blouses or shirts are permitted.
Leggings, including those designed to look like jeans, and stockings are not considered pants and cannot be worn alone as pants. Completely opaque black, colored, and metallic lycra knits are considered leggings.
Shorts, skirts and dresses must be no shorter than 4 inches above the kneewith or without leggings or stockings underneath. If a student sits down in the classroom and undergarments or skin above or below the waist is revealed, the skirt or pants are not acceptable for school.
Athletic and club attire, including cheerleading uniforms, worn during the instructional day must also meet these guidelines with the exception of school-approved games and performances. Cheerleaders will be required to wear jeans or shorts with the uniform shell when not performing.
Underwear should never be visible. Additionally,sagging will not be permitted.
Attire that includes oversized clothing such as oversized and/or sagged pants, oversized shorts with long socks, or oversized overalls are not permitted.Pants must fit at the waist without requiring alteration.Oversized hanging belts are not permitted.
All students must appropriately wear the CTA/ID lanyard around their neck.See Lanyard Policy
In addition to the above requirements, any clothing or jewelry declared inappropriate by district regulations is automatically unauthorized by the school.
Students who violate these policies will be required to change into CTA issued t-shirts or shorts/sweats and may be required to adjust apparel accordingly. Parents may be contacted to provide students with appropriate attire. Items that violate the dress code will be confiscated.
Repeat offenders of dress code policies will be referred to the office for disciplinary actions. Parents will be contacted immediately by Administration.
