NAWIC Since 2006, the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) San Diego Chapter has partnered with CTA to provide guest speakers for classrooms, internships, job shadowing opportunities, panel members for student projects, and field trips to job sites.  NAWIC also provides materials and time to help with interdisciplinary projects.  They created and facilitated the CAD Drafting Competition for the upper grades, encouraging students to demonstrate their skills to win scholarships for college.  NAWIC created curriculum for the 9th grade team to reinforce the major standards in English, earth science, construction, and geometry as well as taught students team work, resource allocation, deadlines, renewable energy and resources, and introduced them to the career paths of engineering, architecture and construction.  NAWIC also organized MAGIC Camp, a week-long construction summer camp for female students.  They collaborated with 86 industry companies to seek donations, and to provide mentors and materials so the students could build a solar greenhouse and benches.
