Hi Sequoia Families! My name is Claudia Wells and I am so excited to be a 5th grade teacher at Sequoia Elementary! I feel right at home in this wonderful school community having been a parent, visiting teacher, and part-time support teacher at Sequoia before being blessed with this opportunity!
I was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, but my family and I came on an adventure to the United States when I was only six months old. I was raised and attended school in Glendale, California. It was in Mrs. Poloni’s third grade class, at Edison Elementary, that I was inspired to become a teacher. In high school I volunteered in elementary schools and as soon as I graduated, I started working as a bilingual teacher’s assistant while attending college. After moving to San Diego years later, I earned my credential and a Masters of Education in Cross-Cultural Teaching and my journey began!
I have lived in Clairemont for the past seventeen years with my husband Rob and two wonderful boys, Diego and Luciano, both proud alumni of Sequoia Elementary. Our pets, also part of our family, include our dog, Happy, two guinea pigs, Chewy and Marigold, a cat, Citty, and finally our gilly frog, Your Welcome (yes, that’s his name). Some tidbits about me: I love the color yellow, owls, relaxing with family and friends, Pinterest, country music, and soccer. But most of all, I love to teach! My goal? To motivate my students to pursue the never ending journey of becoming life-long learners like me!
