Overview
The Mathematics Department's goal is to improve K-12 students' mathematics achievement through the delivery of high quality instruction. Support for teachers and students includes:
- Providing instruction that ensures students learn to make meaning of and understand mathematics.
- Holding high expectations for students and providing experiences for students to reason, solve problems, apply mathematical knowledge and compute.
- Delivering ongoing teacher training, or professional development, that aligns California's Mathematics Standards, instructional practice and curriculum materials.
- Developing a professional community across the district to improve instructional practice built on inquiry and collaboration.
