Description: Project identifies, showcases, and recognizes middle level and high schools that are high achieving or are dramatically improving student achievement and serve large numbers of students living in poverty. Selection criteria are based on a school's documented success in implementing strategies aligned with the three core areas of Breaking Ranks II for middle level and high schools that have led to improved student achievement: Collaborative leadership, Personalization, Curriculum, instruction, and assessment.

Student/Newspaper Partnership Grants
Description:

The purpose is to support the development, re-launching, or revitalization of middle and high school student newspapers, either online or in print. Programs must be composed of partnerships between high school
newspapers and daily or non-daily professional newspapers. Priority will be given to start-up newspapers; however, funds may be used for current newspapers or old newspapers not in operation.

NEA Foundation Learning & Leadership Grants
Description: The NEA Foundation supports a variety of efforts by teachers, education support professionals, and higher education faculty and staff to improve student learning in the nation's public schools, colleges, and universities. Learning and Leadership grants fund participation in and development of high-quality professional development experiences, such as summer institutes or action research.

Summer Service Learning Institute Training Grant "Service Learning A Strategy to Keep Youth In School"
Description: Funding for programs that commitment to implement a service-learning project focused on community/school safety during the 2008-2009 school year. Service learning project must show evidence that youth have been involved in the planning, implementation and evaluation of the project. It is required that applicant has the ability to secure 50% matching funds. Funds may be used for expenses directly related to attendance at the summer service-learning institute in Philadelphia July 21-23, 2008.

GreenWorks! grants
Description: Through GreenWorks!, Project Learning Tree (PLT) provides grants ranging from $250 to $5,000 for environmental projects that combine community action with service-learning projects addressing an environmental issue and involving students from pre-school to high school in hands-on community action. Actuarial Foundation
Description: The Actuarial Foundation, funded by the Society of Actuaries, offers Advancing Student Achievement grants to support mentoring programs involving actuaries in teaching math in local classrooms.
Maximum Award: Applications for up to $25,000 per grant are accepted. Grant funding is for two yeas, with an evaluation conducted at the end of each year.
Eligibility: US schools, actuarial clubs and other education organizations that provide the support necessary to develop a network of mathematics mentors in the public and private school systems. Adobe’s Software Donation Program
Description: Adobe’s Software Donation Program, administered by Gifts In Kind International, provides K-12 schools with a maximum of four individually titled software products or one bundled software package per year. Description: Intergraph Mapping and GIS Solutions will award GeoMedia Education Grants valued at more than $6 million. Graphic Arts Education and Research Foundation GAERF Mini-Grants
Description: The Graphic Arts Education and Research Foundation (GAERF) has provided more than $4.5 million to fund more than 125 projects at more than 45 institutions since it was founded in 1983. GAERF awards two types of grants: full grants and mini-grants. Mini-grants are awarded for projects such as one-day workshops, specialized conferences, and the production of career and educational materials. Lexmark International Inc. Print Art Education Program
Description: Lexmark's Print Art Education Program donates art-inspired lesson plans, CD-ROMs, and printers to schools across the country to help children learn history, language arts, math, and science. Through this program, Lexmark donates either a Lexmark Z53 or a Lexmark Z45 color art-quality inkjet printer to each elementary, middle, and high school in the district. The hardware comes with a warranty and the proper cabling. With this technology, Lexmark also donates a "Print Gallery" CD-ROM--the product of an exclusive collaboration between Lexmark and the largest consortium of art museums in Europe. The disc includes software and approximately 100 high-resolution works of art that allow the students to view, explore, and learn about art masterpieces from the great museums of Europe. Each school also receives a teacher's guide with sample lesson plans. This guide includes academic exercises that put the CD to use in virtually every discipline, from art, to language, to social studies, to math and science. In addition, program participants are eligible to receive one donated inkjet cartridge for every three inkjet cartridges purchased. Every order is shipped free of charge.
