Overview
The Instructional Facilities Planning Department is responsible for developing forecasts, reports and recommendations supporting short- and long-range planning decisions. Specific responsibilities include:
  • Development of annual school and district enrollment forecasts, which support budget development, staffing, and short-term facilities planning.
  • Development of long-term enrollment forecasts, which support long-range planning decisions such as identifying need for new schools, potential school closures, and placement of special programs.
  • Development of annual facilities report, which details facilities actions such as boundary adjustments and movement of portable classrooms needed to support enrollment and program needs for the following academic year.
  • Assisting in the development and update of the long-range facilities master plan.
  • Assisting in the development and update of educational specification guidelines for the construction of new schools and upgrading of existing schools.
  • Act as liaison with neighborhood planning groups, and other community organizations interested in school planning and development.
Instruction and Curriculum is also responsible for planning, implementing and evaluating instructional programs with teachers and principals, including learning objectives, instructional strategies and assessment techniques. It works closely with other district divisions, departments and programs to apply research and district studies to improve the content, sequence and outcomes of the teaching and learning process.

The division is also responsible for developing, maintaining and revising curriculum documents based on systematic review and analysis.
