Interdivisional Curriculum Committee (ICC)

Overview
Interdivisional Curriculum Committee (ICC) is the group that reviews and recommends new courses, deletion of courses, and changes to approved courses to the Board of Education. It ensures that all courses are rigorous and provide students multiple pathways to graduation, college and career.

Schools who want to pilot a new course, change a course attribute (course title, course category, course type, grade level, credits earned, subject area), create a modified version of a course, or establish a school/college partnership must use the the ICC process in order to receive Board approval. Results of pilot courses must also be reviewed by the ICC.

Process
The complete approval process is described in the ICC Transmittal Form Adobe PDF. In general, this is how it works:

  1. Determine the due date for your ICC proposal.
  2. Work with the appropriate Curriculum Leader/Department Manager in advance to ensure the proposal meets ICC criteria.
    • From there, your proposal will be routed to Standards, Assessment and Accountability for a technical review.
    • Then, it will be routed to the appropriate Curriculum Leader/Department Manager for an instructional review.
    • Finally, it will be submitted to the Executive Director of Curriculum and Instruction. If there are any questions or concerns along the way, you will be contacted to resolve any issues.
  3. Submit your proposal to the Curriculum and Instruction office (Ed. Center, Rm. 2116) by the agenda placement due date.
  4. At the ICC meeting, your proposal will be reviewed one last time for final approval before going to the Board.
  5. You will receive an email following the Board meeting regarding course approval.
