| Description: | The goal of this case study is to understand how the principal of a high-achieving elementary school facilitated and managed fundamental changes in the schools learning culture. The study emphasizes the various behaviors and practices of a highly effective principal. It employs a combination of interviews and focus groups of Edison's principals, former and current, teachers, parents, and community members at the school.
The goal of the focus group of the current principal, leadership, team members, and key teacher leaders will be to construct a timeline of critical events leading up to and throughout Edison's change efforts, including critical events, "turning" or "tipping" points, and important events. Individual interviews focus on filling out the timeline, explicating a single critical incident, identifying obstacles and barriers, giving advice for others implementing similar reform, and describing the outcome in terms of student learning and performance in the current learning culture. |
