Uniforms are not required.  Please see our dress code in our Code of Conduct.

Chesterton provides all pencil, paper, crayons, scissors, etc. for our students.  However, donations are gladly accepted.  Please refer to our supply list.

Kindergarten through 5.

Students going to Chesterton feed into Montgomery Middle School located at 2470 Ulric St.  However, other enrollment options are available to parents.  Please visit our district's Enrollment Options page for more information.

Please call the school office at (858) 496-8070.  You will be put in touch with our Resource Specialist.  Please have the child's IEP or 504 plan available as that will be needed in order to verify that Chesterton can accommodate your child's needs.

Kindergartener students have a full day schedule, 7:58 - 2:20 with a half day on Wednesday dismissing at 12:05 P.M.

Checks should be made out to the Chesterton Cafeteria and be sure to include the child's first and last name in the memo section.  Cash must be placed in an envelope with the child's name and room number. All monies should go directly to the cafeteria in the morning before school.  Meals can also be paid for on-line by going to Paypams.

When your child's account is getting low, the cafeteria manager will give your child a note to bring home.  If your child's account is depleted, the cafeteria will allow the child to eat for three days but will be charged earning a negative balance of up to -$3.00.  If money has not been placed in the account after the third meal, the child will be sent to the office to borrow.  The office has limited funds provided by the PTA; therefore, if your child has borrowed from the office twice, a phone call home will be made.  Any monies borrowed from the office must be paid directly to the office while money intended for the student's lunch account should go to the cafeteria.

To find out if you live within Chesterton's boundaries, go to our district's Boundary Lookup page.  If the school for your address is not Chesterton, you will have to complete an Enrollment Options Application and submit it to Chesterton or you can mail it to the address provided on the form.

Approximately 60% of our students come from military families.  Other students are enrolled at Chesterton through other enrollment programs.

There is no bussing at Chesterton Elementary.

The office opens at 7:00 a.m. and closes at 3:00 p.m.   Phone messages may be left on the answering machine when the office is closed.

The weekend before school starts the class lists will be posted on the windows facing Linda Vista Rd.

Our principal's policy is to have all children remain in the rooms for a minimum of two weeks.  Should you wish your child to be moved after that period, please stop by the office to complete a form.  You will receive a phone call from the principal within 48 hours.

Please contact the teacher to express your concerns.  If the problem continues, please contact the office.

Contact the teacher to verify, but normally this will not affect a student's promotion to the next grade.
