Overview
Career Development Services (CDS) serves as the District's central administrative office for programs involving student/minor employment. CDS is a center of information for school district personnel, community-based organizations, employers, parents, and students regarding all aspects of the working student.

Services
  • Work Permits
    • CDS is the issuing office and record-retention center for work permits and provides work permit applications, issuing work permits for students enrolled in district sites, continuing and alternative education programs (HSDP, ROP, etc) , and private schools. The office acts as a child labor law information center, providing information to district staff, students, parents, employers, and other members of the public.

  • Work Experience Education
    • CDS maintains all Work Experience Education records as required by state law, and provides enrollment and mandated related instruction materials for those sites who wish to offer Work Experience Education.
    • CDS is the resource center for district staff who offer Work Experience Education at their sites.

  • Job Referrals
    • CDS provides a job referral service for students within the district, dissemination information through career centers and ROP classes from area employers about student worker job openings. CDS staffs a full-time job development position located at a local EDD office.
