Each Tuesday, students bring home a manila envelope
filled with school announcements. Please empty the
envelope, review the materials, initial the outside
of the envelope, and return it to school on Wednesday.
Each family will designate one of their children's
envelope the "Family Packet." This reduces
duplicate papers being sent to families with more
than one child.
The office sends home a monthly school calendar
listing school events. Please post this helpful
document which also includes vacation dates, attendance
policy reminders, and the school telephone number.
The upper right corner will always have dates of
when there is no school for students. For your easy
reference, the dates when there will not be school
for students are posted in the upper right hand
corner of the monthly calendars.
The PTA publishes a newsletter, The Bird’s
Eye View which is distributed at the beginning of
each month. It contains messages from the Principal,
PTA, Parents' Committee, and the Governance Team.
The newsletter also lists and describes upcoming
school events and identifies volunteer opportunities.
Submit articles in the office or to Alison Mangiafico.
The calendar of events shows the deadlines.

Open houses are held twice a year. The first open
house, held in September, is an adult only event
where parents have the opportunity to meet their
child’s teacher and hear what is planned for
the year. The spring open house is for students
and their parents. It is a festive atmosphere where
classrooms display students' work and celebrate
the accomplishments of the school year.
Each Friday begins with an assembly in the auditorium.
School announcements are made, various awards are
presented, and classrooms and student groups give
presentations (You will be notified in advance if
your child is receiving an award or taking part
in a presentation).
This is a shared decision-making body composed of
parents, staff and classified personnel. They oversee
the Site Plan and Title I budget. They also identify
needs for academic programs and set budgets.

The best way to know what is going on at your school
is to be a part of it – contribute your time
and ideas. All efforts are appreciated. There are
many ways to help in the classroom, for special
school events, and on committees. If you would like
to learn about how you can volunteer, just ask your
teacher, your head room parent or any committee
head.

On parent conference days, school will be dismissed
at 12:50 PM. This is an excellent time for you to
meet with the teacher and review your child's progress.
There are conference days scheduled in November
and February. Please schedule additional conferences
with your child's teacher any time you feel they
are needed.
PTA Room Representatives act as the liaison between
teachers and parents. They assist teachers with
class projects, stuffing Tuesday envelopes, organization
of parent volunteers, parties, and field trips.
In addition, they support school-wide functions,
including the Teacher Relief days, Teacher Appreciation
Week activities, class donations to the annual Spring
Auction, etc. Look in your child's Tuesday envelope
for the sign-up form.
