Dear Parents,
Welcome to kindergarten! This is going to be an exciting learning year for you and your child. The following are suggestions for you to help him/her become a better learner and to show that you care. It is most helpful if you go over these suggestions with you child.
- Make sure your child gets 9 to 10 hours of sleep each night (some experts say kinders should have eleven hours of sleep).
- Make sure your child has a good attendance record. Children who miss multiple days of school fall behind academically and socially. Those children can develop behavior issues.
- Read to your child and encourage him/her to read to you (through pictures at first and on to simple pattern sentences later in the year). Remember, the best way to learn to read is to read! Have fun with it!
- A good policy regarding children and TV is to watch with them and help them evaluate what they’re watching in light of your family’s values.
- Please attend our Back-to-School night which is generally held in late September/early October.
